Calgary, Alta. – The Western Hockey League announced today Kamloops Blazers winger Jermaine Loewen has been named the WHL On the Run Player of the Week for the week ending November 5, 2017.

Loewen, a 6-foot-4, 221-pound product of Arborg, Man., recorded five points (4G-1A) in a pair of games this week for the Blazers. Loewen scored a pair of goals and tallied three points, including the game-winner, in a 5-4 victory over the Vancouver Giants Friday. He scored midway through the second and then again with 17 seconds left in the game to secure a victory for his Blazers squad. For his efforts, Loewen was recognized as the game’s first star.

Saturday at the Sandman Centre in the second part of a home-and-home series, Loewen once again recorded a pair of goals in a 5-4 loss for the Blazers. With his team down in the third period, Loewen struck for goals 7:12 apart to bring his team back into the game. At his home rink, Loewen was named the second star of Saturday’s contest.

Originally a third-round selection (48th overall) of the Blazers in the 2013 WHL Bantam Draft, Loewen has played 181 regular season games with the club, recording 42 points (20G-22A) in that time frame, with 255 penalty minutes to go along with it. His game-winning goal Friday was the third of his career and he also has four power play goals to his name. In 13 career WHL Playoff games, Loewen has two points (1G-1A). Loewen attended the rookie camp of the San Jose Sharks earlier this year.

The Blazers return to action Friday, November 10 (7:00 p.m. PST) at the Sandman Centre when they host the Red Deer Rebels for the first of two games this season between the two clubs.
