BLAZERS PARTICIPATING IN MOVEMBER
1-Nov-12 BLAZERS PARTICIPATING IN MOVEMBER
Kamloops, BC – Throughout the month of November, the Kamloops Blazers and other members of the Canadian Hockey League will be working to help promote Movember. Movember is an activity that encourages the growth of a moustache to raise awareness about prostate cancer and depression in men.
Last year was the first official association between the CHL and Movember. Thirty-nine teams registered and participated in the fundraising campaign under the CHL network and together, we proudly raised $128,222 towards men’s health. This year we are looking to continue to grow the campaign and involve even more teams across the CHL, as well as officials, coaches, staff and fans.
The Kamloops Blazers players have registered as a team as well as individually at Movember.ca to raise donations online and at Blazers home games throughout the month of November. Fans are encouraged to donate towards the Blazers’ efforts as well as register themselves as a member of the Kamloops Blazers team fundraising.
Each member of the Blazers will start the month clean shaven and grow a moustache through the month to show support and raise money and awareness for prostate cancer and male mental health initiatives.
The funds raised are directed to programs run directly by Movember and men’s health partner, Prostate Cancer Canada. Together the two channels work together to ensure that Movember funds are supporting a broad range of innovative, world-class programs in line with strategic goals in the areas of awareness, education, survivorship, prostate cancer research, male mental health, and influencing change in men’s health.
