BLAZERS TAKE DOWN ROCKETS 5-2 AT HOME
28-Oct-11The Blazers led the entire way in a 5-2 home ice victory over the Kelowna Rockets. Tim Bozon opened the scoring on a great pass by Colin Smith for a 1-0 Blazers lead. Goaltender Cole Cheveldave played well in the first period as the Blazers outshot the Rockets 13-11.
In the second period, Brendan Ranford scored a power play goal as Chase Schaber and Brady Gaudet made two great passes and the Blazers led 2-0. The Rockets battled back as Tyrell Goulbourne buried a rebound after a hard shot off of Colton Sissons stick. The Blazers opened the game up as Chase Schaber made a great move and beat goaltender Adam Brown. Dylan Willick made it 4-1 on a tic-tac-toe play on the power play and the Blazers took the lead into the third period.
In the third period, Willick made it 5-1 in the 50 seconds in walking around Brown to bury his second of the game. That was the end for Brown as Jordon Cooke went in relief. The Rockets were awarded four straight power plays in the third period and scored on one of them to make it 5-2. The Blazers had chances to increase their lead but played well in a 5-2 home ice victory.
The Blazers improved their record to 10-3-0-0 on the season. The hockey club was 2-for-4 on the power play and 7-for-8 on the penalty kill. Cole Cheveldave made 35 saves to improve his record to 5-0-0-0 and Adam Brown took the loss making 23 saves.
The Rockets and Blazers will play tomorrow night in Kelowna in a home-and-home series.
