BLAZERS TAKE IT TO T-BIRDS 8-2 AT HOME
26-Nov-11The Kamloops Blazers were dominant in an 8-2 home ice victory. The Blazers had a solid first period but only scored once. Tim Bozon found a rebound and gave the Blazers a 1-0 lead through the first period. The period was all Blazers as they outshot the Thunderbirds 19-3.
In the second period, the Blazers started to get pucks past goaltender Daniel Cotton. Brendan Ranford extended the lead as he walked in a scored a beauty to make it 2-0 for the Blazers. The Thunderbirds struck back on the power play. Goaltender Cole Cheveldave made an unbelievable paddle save, but was beaten shortly after on a redirected shot to cut the lead to 2-1. The Blazers though poured it on from there. Cole Ully and Logan McVeigh each notched goals as the Blazers led 4-1 through two periods.
The Blazers continued to pepper shots at Cotton and score in the third period. Dylan Willick, Colin Smith, Ryan Hanes and Austin Madaisky each tallied for the Blazers as they went on to win the game 8-2. The Blazers outshot the Thunderbirds 50-19. Cotton finished with 42 saves, while Cheveldave turned aside 17 shots. The Blazers were 2-for-4 on the power play and the Thunderbirds finished 1-for-3.
Next week, the Blazers will play four games in five nights. The team will travel to Victoria to play games on Tuesday and Wednesday. The Blazers return home to host the Prince George Cougars on Friday and the Victoria Royals on Saturday.
