BLAZERS TOP ROYALS 4-1 AT HOME
25-Nov-11The Blazers were full marks for a 4-1 home ice victory over the Victoria Royals on Friday night. It was the Blazers who scored first as Dylan Willick was set up nicely by Matt Needham and the hockey club had a 1-0 lead. The Blazers put on the pressure in the first period, but goaltender Keith Hamilton played well turning aside 12 shots in the period. The Blazers outshot the Royals 13-6 through the first period.
The second period was all Blazers as they had a ton of chances. Hamilton stayed solid in goal, but the Blazers also failed to hit the net on a few occasions. Chase Schaber though would beat Hamilton firing an unexpected puck on net and the Blazers led 2-0. The Royals had a power play to finish off the period and generated some chances. Goaltender Cole Cheveldave played well and kept the game at 2-0. The Blazers outshot the Royals 19-8 in the period.
In the third period, the Blazers extended their lead as Colin Smith scored on a wrap around and the Blazers led 3-0. The Blazers controlled the tempo of the game, but a late penalty and an awkward bounce gave Kevin Sundher a break which resulted in a goal. The Royals had some late pressure, but Dylan Willick scored an empty net goal for a 4-1 victory.
Cole Cheveldave earned the win with 17 saves in goal while Keith Hamilton played well making 36 saves for the Royals. The Blazers were 0-for-4 on the power play while the Royals were 1-for-5.
The next game action for the Blazers is tomorrow night as the Seattle Thunderbirds come to town. Game time is 7:00pm.
