Wednesday, October 10th, 2012 vs. Victoria Royals – 5-2 Win
The Blazers and Royals met for the third time this season and the Blazers took down the Royals 5-2 on home ice. Five different players scored for the Blazers as they held period leads of 1-0 and 3-1. JC Lipon, Colin Smith, Brendan Ranford, Tim Bozon and Cole Ully were the goal scorers. Lipon, Ranford and Bozon each finished with a goal and an assist. Goaltender Cole Cheveldave was his usual self turning aside 25 shots in the win. The Blazers improved their record against the Royals to 2-0-0-1 on the season. Full Recap and Highlights.
Friday, October 12th, 2012 vs. Spokane Chiefs – 5-1 Win
It wasn’t the best game for the Blazers, but JC Lipon was red hot and Cole Cheveldave was strong in goal in a 5-1 home ice win. Lipon scored three times in a span of 5:39 in the first period to vault the Blazers out to a 3-0 lead. Cheveldave came up big in the second period when the Blazers were outshot 19-4 and only Liam Stewart beat Cheveldave with a shot from in tight late in the second period. The Blazers were solid in the third period and Cole Ully and Brendan Ranford added third period goals for a 5-1 victory. Colin Smith finished with three assists, while Ranford had a goal and two assists. Lipon finished the night with three goals and an assist and Cole Cheveldave made 36 saves. Sunday, October 14th, 2012 at Calgary Hitmen – 5-2 Win
The Blazers started off a five-game road trip on the right foot as they took down the Calgary Hitmen 5-2. The regulation loss was a first for the Hitmen this season. JC Lipon was up to his old tricks finishing the game with two goals and two helpers. Colin Smith also had a good night with two goals and an assist. The Blazers had all their offense come on the power play going 5-for-10 on the night. The Hitmen were likewise as both their goals were on the power play and they went 2-for-4. Cole Cheveldave had a relatively easy night making 13 saves as the Blazers outshot the Hitmen 31-15 in the game. Full Recap and Highlights.
Blazers Remain Only CHL Team Unbeaten
It`s early, but the Blazers are off to a tremendous start to the 2012-13 season going 8-0-0-1 and winners of their last six games. This is the best start in franchise history since 1987-88 season when the team went 9-0-0 to start the year.
The Blazers have had contributions from all over as eight different players have scored the game winning goal in the eight wins so far this season. The Blazers have also scored the most goals (41) and allowed the least goals (19) in the WHL.
The hockey club is the middle of one of the toughest stretches of the year with seven games in 11 days. They will start a stretch of four games in five nights on Tuesday in Red Deer.
JC Lipon is WHL Player of the Week… Again
Kamloops Blazers forward JC Lipon has been named the Denny’s WHL Player of the Week for the second straight week. After posting seven points in two games last week, the undrafted 19-year-old had six goals, four assists for 10 points in three games this past week. Read more.
After last week’s performance, Lipon was also named the CHL Player of the Week. Lipon has now totalled nine goals and eight assists for 17 points in his last five games. Read more.
Lipon led the WHL in preseason scoring with nine points and is currently leading the WHL in scoring with 22 points. He is four points ahead of linemate Colin Smith (18) who is second in WHL scoring.

Blazers Add Veteran D-man Sam Grist
The Blazers bolstered their roster this week with the addition of 19-year-old defenseman Sam Grist on Tuesday. The Blazers sent two draft picks to the Tri-City Americans in exchange for Grist. The 6’4” and 200lb defender has fit in well early on picking up an assist in his first game. Read more.
Blazers Rank 3rd in the BMO CHL MasterCard Top 10 Rankings
The Blazers continued to climb the ladder in the BMO CHL MasterCard Top 10 Rankings. The Blazers are now ranked 3rd in the CHL up from 8th two weeks ago and 6th a week ago. The Blazers are the highest ranked WHL team in the Top 10 with an 8-0-0-1 record to start the year. To view the rankings, follow this link.
