BLAZERS WEEK IN REVIEW, SEPTEMBER 4

Week in Review:

Thursday, August 30^th, 2012 vs. Victoria Royals – 4-2 Win

The Blazers opened the preseason schedule with a 4-2 home ice victory over the Victoria Royals on Thursday night. The Blazers iced a veteran line-up in their first preseason game and it showed in the game’s first half with the Blazers dominating the play. The Royals new import goaltender Patrik Polivka was outstanding making 23 saves in the first half of the game allowing only one goal as Colin Smith fed Tim Bozon on a 5-on-3 power play to make it 1-0. Coleman Vollrath took over goaltending duties from Polivka and allowed two goals in the second period. Jordan DePape buried a rebound and Chase Souto had a wide open net on a terrific face-off play by Matt Needham to make it 3-0 after two periods. The Royals had some fight in them as 15-year-old Tyler Soy scored twice to cut the Blazers lead to 3-2. A two-on-one with Josh Connolly and Colin Smith was finished off by Smith as the Blazers cruised to a 4-2 win. Cole Cheveldave played the full game making 21 saves in goal. Friday, August 31^st, 2012 at Victoria Royals (Maple Ridge) – 5-3 Win

The Blazers dressed a much younger line-up on Friday night with the Royals dressing an older squad but the result was the same with the Blazers earning a 5-3 victory. The Royals struck first, but the Blazers tied it up in the first period to make it 1-1 through the first period. The Blazers took the lead for good in the second period as Chase Souto and JC Lipon each got on the scoreboard. Lipon completed the hat-trick in the third period and Dylan Willick added an empty net marker to make it a 5-3 victory. Lipon finished the game with three goals and an assist. Taran Kozun played the entire game and finished with 24 saves for the victory. The Blazers were 2-for-9 on the power play while the Royals were 2-for-7. Full Recap and Highlights.

Season Ticket Pick-Up, A Sneak Peak at the Third Jersey

Season Ticket Holders will be able to pick up their packages on Friday, September 14^th prior to the Blazers final exhibition game against the Prince George Cougars. Pick-up will be between 5:00pm – 7:00pm at the Parkside Lounge in the Interior Savings Centre.         

Season Ticket Holders will receive their ticket package including a VIP discount card and a Blazers Rally Scarf.

The event will also feature an opportunity to get a sneak peek of the 2012-13 third jerseys. Coaches and players will be in attendance between 5:40pm – 6:00pm. Play-by-Play Announcer Jon Keen will ask some of the players a few questions during the event. Finally, season ticket holders will also have an opportunity to be entered into a draw to win a replica third jersey signed by the entire team. 

Anthem Singers Needed!

The Kamloops Blazers will be holding open auditions for anthem singers on Thursday, September 13^th from 6:30pm – 8:00pm at Interior Savings Centre. Registration will be at the top of Section R on the concourse.

Blazers Announce Signings Following Training Camp

The Kamloops Blazers announced the signing of four players following the conclusion of training camp. Cameron Reagan, Mitch Friesen, Jesse Shynkaruk and Aaron Macklin were all signed to education contracts. To read more about Reagan, follow this link.

Home Opener on Friday, September 21^st vs. Kelowna Rockets

The Kamloops Blazers will be raising the 2012 B.C. Division Championship Banner as they host the Kelowna Rockets on Friday, September 21^st. Single game tickets will go on sale at the Box Office on Monday, September 17^th at 9:00am.
