BLAZERS WIN 2-1 IN MEDICINE HAT
22-Oct-11The Kamloops Blazers played one of their best games of the season in a 2-1 victory in Medicine Hat Saturday night. The Tigers scored the lone goal of the first period as Emerson Etem used his speed to go around the Blazers defence and snap a shot past goaltender Cam Lanigan for his 16th of the season. The Blazers outshot the Tigers 10-5 in a back and forth entertaining period. The Tigers took their 1-0 lead into the first intermission.
The second period was no different then the first. The game featured big hits, big saves, blocked shots, good defensive play and chances for both teams. JC Lipon got the Blazers on the board as he snapped a shorthanded shot past goaltender Tyler Bunz and the game was tied at 1-1. The Tigers outshot the Blazers 13-7 in the period.
The Blazers and Tigers continued their strong play into the third period. J.T. Barnett put the Blazers on the lead as he used his speed to go around the net and stuff a shot past Bunz. The Tigers had their chances though as the Blazers had to kill off three penalties in the third period, but the Blazers earned a 2-1 victory. Cam Lanigan was named the game's first star making 28 saves while Tyler Bunz was named the game's second star with 19 saves. The Blazers were 0-for-2 on the power play while the Tigers finished 1-for-6.
