BLAZERS WIN 4-3 IN KELOWNA
29-Oct-11The Blazers won their fourth in a row in a 4-3 win on the road in Kelowna on Saturday night. The Rockets opened the scoring on the power play in the first period. Madison Bowey scored his second goal in as many games for a 1-0 Rockets lead. The Blazers outshot the Rockets 13-5 in the period.
The Rockets extended their lead in the second period. Shane McColgan blasted a shot past goaltender Cam Lanigan on a two on one to make it 2-0 Rockets. The Blazers stuck to their game plan though and came back in this one. Ryan Hanes scored his first goal of the season finding a rebound to cut the lead to 2-1. Dylan Willick tied it when he fired a shot over goaltender Adam Brown's glove. The Blazers had outshot the Rockets 26-11 after two periods.
In the third period, the Rockets had a few great chances on the power play, but the Blazers grabbed the lead. Dylan Willick drove to the net and buried his own rebound to give the Blazers a 3-2 lead with just over five minutes to play. Brendan Ranford gave the Blazers some breathing room making it 4-2. The Rockets, who never gave up in this game, scored a late goal to make it 4-3. The Blazers were too much in this one though as they improved their record to 11-3-0-0.
Goaltender Cam Lanigan stopped 20 shots in the game, while Adam Brown turned aside 31. The Blazers were 0-for-3 on the power play while the Rockets finished 1-for-3.
The Blazers next action is on Wednesday when they host the Portland Winterhawks. Game time is 7:00pm at the Interior Savings Centre.
