DAN KORDIC HIRED AS ASSISTANT COACH

Kamloops, BC – Kamloops Blazers General Manager Matt Bardsley has announced the hiring of Dan Kordic as an Assistant Coach.

Kordic spent the past two seasons as an Assistant Coach with the University of Alberta and helped guide the team to a U Sports championship during the 2017-18 season.

“We are excited to add Dan to our coaching staff,” said General Manager, Matt Bardsley. “He came highly recommended and after speaking with Dan along with people who know him as a coach and person, it was clear that he is the right person to work alongside Serge,” commented Bardsley. “He is a good communicator combined with strong teaching skills who also understands the modern day player, and he will be a great asset in helping our players maximize their potential.”

The Edmonton native is a WHL alumni, as he was a defenseman for four seasons with the Medicine Hat Tigers from 1987 to 1991. He won a Memorial Cup with the Tigers in 1988.

His playing career spanned eight seasons from 1991 until 1999. He played 197 games in the NHL with the Philadelphia Flyers and 176 games in the American Hockey League with the Hersey Bears.

“Dan is an excellent addition to our coaching staff, the Blazers organization and the community of Kamloops,” commented Head Coach Serge Lajoie. “He brings a wealth of playing experience at the NHL and AHL level, but more importantly, his passion for developing players and building strong relationships with the players will be a tremendous asset to our team,” said Lajoie. “I’m extremely pleased to add someone with such high character and strong commitment to excellence to our staff.”

We’d like to welcome Dan, his wife Karen, along with their two kids, daughter Mackenzie and son Nolan to the Kamloops Blazers organization.
