TOUGH NIGHT FOR BLAZERS AS THEY FALL 7-3
23-Nov-11The score didn’t reflect the game as the Blazers fell 7-3 to the Kootenay Ice on Wednesday night. The game started off poorly for the Blazers as defenseman Josh Caron was tagged with a five minute major penalty only 1:16 into the game. The Ice scored near the end of the powerplay as Drew Czerwonka made it 1-0 for the Ice. The Blazers still played a good period and tied the game when Tim Bozon converted on a terrific passing play between Colin Smith and JC Lipon.
The second period was a period the Blazers wanted to forget. The Ice opened the period with two powerplay goals and scored another even strength to take a 4-1 lead. Goaltender Cole Cheveldave was pulled for Cam Lanigan. Lanigan struggled letting in three more goals on only four shots and Cheveldave took over as the Blazers allowed six goals on only ten shots and the Ice led 7-1 going into the third period.
The Blazers played a solid third period and scored twice as Brendan Ranford and Bronson Maschmeyer each notched goals but the Blazers lost 7-3 to the Ice. Despite the loss, the Blazers still outshot the Ice 28-22 in the game. The Ice were 3-for-4 on the powerplay and the Blazers finished 2-for-4. Cole Cheveldave took the loss stopping only 14 shots.
The Blazers next action is on Friday night when they host the Victoria Royals. Game time is 7:00pm at the Interior Savings Centre.
