WHITE DOWNS BLUE INTRA-SQUAD GAME

The annual Blue vs. White intra-squad game was an entertaining affair with White taking home the compete cup 5-3 on Tuesday night. White opened the scoring on the power play as veteran Jordan DePape banged home a loose puck. The assists went to Jordan Thomson and Mitchell Lipon as White took a 1-0 lead after the first period.

Blue even the score up in the second period as Matt Needham was sent in alone by Marek Hrbas and Needham put it five-hole to tie it up at 1-1. Blue goaltender Cole Cheveldave played well in 29:30 minutes of play making 26 saves while Taran Kozun turned aside 13 shots. The game remained tied at 1-1 through two periods. Braden Krogfoss came in for Blue while Cole Kehler entered the net for White.

White took the lead back in the third period as Tim Bozon potted a power play goal banging home a rebound from Tyson McLellan and Jordan Thomson to make it 2-1. Blue once again tied it up as Brendan Ranford scored a beauty shorthanded with Jayden Halbgewachs and Ryan Rehill setting him up nicely. White got the lead back as Mitchell Lipon fired a shot over the glove of Krogfoss to make it 3-2. Blue once again tied it up with a shorthanded marker as Ranford set up Halbgewachs for a beautiful goal and a 3-3 tie. White took the lead for the last time with just over five minutes to play. Tim Bozon sent Colin Smith off to the races as Smith scored a shorthanded goal to make it 4-3. Charlie Gawlicki sealed the deal on a nice feed from Tyson McLellan and White went on to win 5-3.

Tyson McLellan and Jordan Thomson each finished with two assists for White while veteran Tim Bozon had a goal and two helpers. Jayden Halbgewachs and Brendan Ranford each had a goal and an assist for Blue. Braden Krogfoss finished the night with 19 saves while Cole Kehler turned aside 11 shots.

The Blazers are ready for the exhibition season as they host the Victoria Royals on Thursday, August 30th at the Interior Savings Centre. Game time is set for 7:00pm. For tickets, call the Kamloops Blzers Box Office at 250-828-3339.
