FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE / OCTOBER 8, 2009

BLAZERS ACQUIRE STAMPOHAR

Kamloops, BC – The Kamloops Blazers announced today that they have acquired 19 year old forward John Stampohar from the Medicine Hat Tigers in exchange for 18 year old forward Cole Grbavac.

The 6’4” 213lb forward has played 95 WHL games all with the Medicine Hat Tigers, and has registered 8 points and 159 penalty minutes in just over 2 seasons. Stampohar has 1 assist and 12 penalty minutes in 6 games so far this season.

“We are happy with the acquisition of John,” Bonner said. “He was a highly touted player coming out of Minnesota High School hockey a couple years ago. John is a big, strong power forward who we feel will add an element to our line up that we needed to address.”

Stampohar will be eligible to play Friday, October 16 in Regina as he has 3 games left to serve on a current suspension.

The Blazers roster now sits at 25 players, including 15 forwards, 8 defensemen, and 2 goaltenders.
