The Kamloops Blazers concluded the 2016-17 season with a 2-1 shootout win in Prince George on Saturday night. The win gives the Blazers a record of 42-24-2-4 and 90 points for the season.
After a scoreless first period, the Blazers scored 23 seconds into the second period. Collin Shirley tallied his 28th of the season on a powerplay to make it 1-0.
The Cougars tied it on the rush as Kody McDonald dropped a pass for Brendan Guhle and he scored his 15th of the season to make it 1-1.
There were some frantic moments in the third period and overtime, but both goaltenders were solid in keeping it a 1-1 game.
The shootout went eight rounds and Brodi Stuart was the hero for the Blazers. The 16-year-old call up, who was playing his third career WHL game, won it for the Blazers 2-1.
