The Blazers fired 42 shots on goal against the Victoria Royals, but fell 2-1 in a shootout on Friday night.
The Royals opened the scoring in the second period. Matthew Phillips scored with a quick shot off the rush over the pad of Connor Ingram for a 1-0 lead.
The Blazers tied the game less than four minutes after Phillips’ goal. Ondrej Vala scored his ninth of the season on the power play to make it 1-1 through two periods.
The Blazers killed off a 5-on-3 in the third period and had plenty of chances to take the lead.
In overtime, Deven Sideroff was stoned twice on breakaways by goaltender Griffen Outhouse.
In the shootout, Jack Walker and Tyler Soy both scored for the Royals to make it a 2-1 final.
The Blazers outshot the Royals 42-21. The Blazers were 1-for-3 on the power play, while the Royals were 0-for-5 on the night.
These two teams will meet again Saturday night in Victoria.
