FOOD BANK AND TEDDY BEAR NIGHTS THIS WEEKEND
Kamloops, BC – The Kamloops Blazers have two final home games ahead of them this weekend before they head out on the road prior to the Christmas break.
On Friday, December 6th, Tim Bozon and Landon Cross will make their returns to Kamloops as the Blazers host the Kootenay Ice. The Ice also possess forward Sam Reinhart who is projected as a top three pick for the upcoming 2014 NHL Draft.
Friday is also Food Bank Night as the Kamloops Food Bank will be accepting non-perishable food items and monetary donations at the front doors for the busy Christmas season.
On Saturday, December 7th, the Blazers host the Everett Silvertips for their annual Zimmer AutoSport Teddy Bear game at the Interior Savings Centre. When the Blazers score their first goal of the game, fans will have the opportunity to throw their stuffed animals on the ice! Last year, 3,250 teddy bears and other stuffed animals were collected along with 685 toques, gloves and scarves. All of the stuffed animals collected were donated locally.
The annual Zimmer Autosport Teddy Bear Night is a tradition going back to the 1993-94 season with the Blazers starting the holiday event that has caught on across the CHL. Over 20 years, it is estimated that about 43,250 teddy bears have been collected and distributed in the local community.
