WHAT’S AHEAD: The Blazers have started the month of February with a 1-1-0-0. The team has a lighter schedule ahead as they only play 11 games in the month of February. Next week sees the Blazers host the Seattle Thunderbirds on Wednesday, February 9th and then the team will head to Whitehorse, Yukon to play a special game against the Vancouver Giants on Saturday, February 12th as part of the festivities for Scotiabank’s CBC Hockey Day in Canada. This will be the first ever regular season WHL game played in the Yukon. The Blazers are then home on Tuesday, February 15th with a date against the Tri-City Americans before heading out on a 5-game Alberta road swing.
HEAD-TO-HEAD: This is the seventh of eight head-to-head matches with the Blazers going 3-2-1-0 and the Bruins going 3-3-0-0. The Blazers hosted Chilliwack in their second game of the year and lost 5-2 at home to the Bruins. Brendan Ranford and Dylan Willick scored for the Blazers, while Ryan Howse had 2 goals for the Bruins and Roman Horak finished with 4 points. The rematch in Chilliwack on October 2nd resulted in a Bruins 6-1 win as they went 5-for-13 on the powerplay. Bronson Maschmeyer had the lone goal for the Blazers and Roman Horak finished with 3 points for the Bruins. On January 7th, the Blazers won 5-2 at home to the Bruins with Colin Smith getting 3 goals in the win. In the last meeting, JT Barnett gave the Blazers the lead in the third period, but the Bruins tied it and won it on a powerplay in overtime 4-3 on January 21st in Kamloops. In the last meeting, the Blazers went into Chilliwack and won 5-1 on January 29th. Thomas Frazee and Dylan Willick each scored twice for the Blazers and Jeff Bosch made 20 saves for the win. Last night, the Blazers won 2-1 as Jordan DePape scored the game winner in the third period. These two teams will meet for the final time in Chilliwack on Saturday, March 5th to close out the season series.
