Calgary, AB. – The Western Hockey League in association with the Canadian Hockey League and SUBWAY® today announced the players that will serve as Captains and Assistant Captains for Team WHL in the 2010 SUBWAY® Super Series games to be played in Kamloops, BC on Wednesday November 17 and in Prince George on Thursday November 18, 2010.

Spokane Chiefs defenceman Jared Cowen has been named Team WHL captain for game five of the SUBWAY® Super Series in Kamloops, BC.  The 19-year-old from Allen, SK, is playing his fourth year with the Spokane Chiefs and was a member of Team Canada at the 2010 World Junior Championships.  Cowen, who was selected in the 1st round – 9th overall by the Ottawa Senators at the 2009 NHL Entry Draft, is representing Team WHL for the third straight season.  Curtis Hamilton (Saskatoon Blades), Matt MacKenzie (Calgary Hitmen) and Chase Schaber (Kamloops Blazers) have been named assistant captains for the Team WHL for the game in Kamloops, BC.  Hamilton is one of three assistant captains on the Saskatoon Blades, MacKenzie shares the captaincy of the Calgary Hitmen and Chase Schaber is the captain of the Kamloops Blazers.  Hamilton competed for Team WHL during last year’s event while this is the first appearance for both MacKenzie and Schaber.
