Brodi Stuart, Orrin Centazzo and Zane Franklin combined for eight points in a convincing 4-1 win over the Kelowna Rockets in the Blazers season opener in front of a crowd of over 5500 fans on Friday night.
The Blazers went to work early as goals from Zane Franklin, Brodi Stuart and Sean Strange in the first period gave the home team a 3-0 lead.
Stuart added another goal in the third period as Leif Mattson broke the shutout with a power play goal midway through the final frame.
Orrin Centazzo finished with three assists while Stuart had two goals and an assist and Zane Franklin finished the night with a goal and an assist.
Defenseman Sean Strange scored his first career WHL goal and Martin Lang recorded his first WHL assist.
The Blazers outshot the Rockets 38-26 on the night and went 2-for-5 on the power play, while the Rockets were 1-for-5.
Dylan Ferguson stopped 25 shots in the win, while James Porter made 34 saves in the Rockets net.
These two teams will play Saturday night in Kelowna.
